I recently sat down at the holiday dinner table with friends and family only to face the dreaded question: “What does your company actually do, Phil?”
I launched into how Moogsoft is the observability with AIOps leader that delivers the most advanced platform for helping IT pros instantly see all of a system’s incidents and issues, know what’s wrong and fix things faster.
Surveying the blank stares, I added: all of this comes together for a very practical purpose — to help businesses avoid system outages and expedite innovation!
More stares and a few polite head nods.
I considered my day of traveling across the U.S. — and the fact that it’s difficult to go through any day without touching the networks assured by Moogsoft’s platform. With that, I tried again and asked my fellow holiday revelers to consider my day…
5:48am PST
My alarm goes off and I grab my Verizon-networked smartphone to call a ride to the airport. Feeling holly jolly, I pull up the Uber app and schedule a ride to the airport, which is paid for through my Key Bank account.
6:10am PST
The car shows up in record time and I check into my American Airlines flight online. From there, it’s smooth sailing…until I hit the TSA line.
6:30am PST
Still waiting in the security line, I log onto the Qualcomm Wi-Fi to catch up on my English Premier League scores on FOX.
7:30am PST
Finally through security, I buy a well-deserved cappuccino with my Key Bank mobile app and the secure transaction is processed by Fiserv.
4:00pm EST
Safely on the ground, I realize that I’ve overlooked my nephew’s Christmas gift. I quickly hop onto the Under Armour website to place an expedited order using my Credit Suisse credit card.

Anxious to see my family and friends, I call my last Uber of the day.

In the car, I log onto Yahoo account to make adjustments to my fantasy football team, which runs on the AT&T network.

I finally sit down at the holiday table surrounded by friends and family. Nearly my entire journey — from purchases, transactions, interactions, and so much more — were digital. And, because everything worked like a charm, I could have never known just how complex, interconnected and fragile the systems powering these digital services are.
